GPHG 2022: Check out the Academy's nominees

FGP Swiss & Alps

Geneva, 1 September 2022 – The GPHG Academy held its first vote this summer.

The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève Foundation is now unveiling the official list of nominees for 2022 on gphg.org

The 650 members of the Academy, representing the various sectors of the profession, selected 90 timepieces out of the 254 entered in this year’s competition, including 84 watches and 6 clocks.

Divided into 15 categories, these timepieces are in the running to win one of the 20 prizes of this 22nd edition of the GPHG, including the prestigious “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix best-in-show award.

The nominated watches will be exhibited in New Delhi on 8 and 9 October 2022, in partnership with Ethos Watches. They will then take up residence in Casablanca, Morocco, from 20 to 23 October 2022, within the prestigious setting of the Villa Roosevelt. The latter exhibition, a first for the GPHG on the African continent, is organised in partnership with the Bank of Africa.

Back in Geneva, the 90 nominated timepieces will be exhibited from 2 to 20 November at the Musée Rath, in partnership with the Musée d’art et d’histoire (MAH). The presentation of the six timepieces competing in the new “Mechanical Clock” category will give rise to an original dialogue with a matching number of heritage works exceptionally selected from the watchmaking collections of the MAH and the Musée international d’horlogerie in La Chaux-de-Fonds (MIH). The public will also be able to take part in free guided tours and introductory workshops on watchmaking (details and bookings: inscription@gphg.org).

The 2022 list of award-winners will be announced on Thursday 10 November at the 22nd GPHG awards ceremony, which will take place at the Théâtre du Léman in Geneva.

After the ceremony, the winning watches of the 2022 edition will travel to Zurich at the end of November for a private presentation in collaboration with FGP Swiss & Alps, main partner of the GPHG for the past three years. They will finally be exhibited for the first time in New York, from 1 to 4 December, in partnership with Watches of Switzerland.
